Our operations in the commercial sector are carried out through the Teletraffic Research Centre. "Teletraffic science is the traditional term for all theoretical
fundamentals and engineering practices to describe data flows in
telecommunication networks, the performance of the usage of network
resources, procedures for sizing of resources and engineering the
networks for given traffic load and quality of service requirements." - International Teletraffic Congress Home Page
The Teletraffic Research Centre was established in 1986 as a centre focussed on the application of operations research and statistical techniques to telecommunications systems and networks.
In 1987, Telecom Australia (now Telstra), granted the Teletraffic
Research Centre status as a Centre of Excellence in Teletraffic
Engineering. We have had an
on-going relationship ever since.
In addition to our strong industry focus, the Teletraffic Research Centre has been very successful in winning competitive research grants, such as Australian Research Council Discovery and Linkage Grants. A list of those grant successes is here. The Teletraffic Resarch Centre was proud to be co-host of the 2008 Australasian Telecommunications Network and Applications Conference.
