Telecommunications

The Teletraffic Research Centre was established in 1986 as a centre focussed on the application of operations research techniques to telecommunications systems and networks analysis problems.

In 1987, Telecom Australia (now Telstra), granted the Teletraffic Research Centre status as a Centre of Excellence in Teletraffic Engineering. Telstra and Teletraffic Research Centre have had an on-going relationship ever since.

The Teletraffic Research Centre has a strong track record in telecommunications research and development and consulting. Our R&D partners range from major carriers such as Telstra and Optus, to defence organisations such as Defence and Science Technology Organisation (DSTO), to startup companies such as Foursticks and DSpace. Our consulting clients include Tenix and the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DoCITA).

We also provide courses on specialist topics specifically designed to strengthen the skills of employees in high-tech industries.

In addition to our strong commercial focus, the Teletraffic Research Centre is heavily involved in Australian Research Council and Department of Education, Science and Technology related activities, such as ARC Discovery and Linkage Grants, and the Smart Internet Technology Co-operative Research Centre.
